22 Settembre 2026Wireless & Towers, the new event dedicated to the Italian telecommunications and wireless infrastructure industry, taking place from October 7 to 9 at BolognaFiere, has received the patronage of ASI.
The Italian Space Agency was established in 1988 with the mission of promoting, developing, and disseminating scientific and technological research in the space and aerospace fields. It is also responsible for developing and implementing Italy’s space policy in line with government guidelines. ASI is now among the top six space agencies in the world, reflecting Italy’s prestigious role in the space sector at both European and global levels. Thanks to the San Marco satellites, Italy was among the pioneers of the space age and is today the third largest contributor to the European Space Agency (ESA), after France and Germany, as well as one of the first signatories of NASA’s Artemis Accords. Italy is also one of the few countries in the world that operates across all space application domains through its own agency.
ASI demonstrates strong diplomatic capabilities and maintains strategic collaborations with all major space agencies. Through these collaborations and continuous cooperation with the scientific community and Italian industry, the Agency has achieved significant results in space science, human and robotic exploration, space propulsion, telecommunications, satellite navigation, and Earth observation. One of the most important outcomes of these collaborations is the International Space Station, where Italian astronauts from the European astronaut corps take turns onboard. More than 50% of the pressurized living modules on the ISS were built by Italian industry.
